Alberta's government officials provided an update on the COVID-19 outbreak within the province on Monday, announcing that 18 new cases of the virus had been confirmed, bringing the total number of cases to 74.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health, stated that for the first time, there are now COVID-19 cases in all Alberta Heath zones.

Hinshaw issued her part of the update via video conference, as she is experiencing cold-like symptoms and is in self-isolation. She has been tested for COVID-19 and is awaiting results.

The province is currently undertaking broad isolation measures to halt the spread of the virus, including suspending classes in all schools and post-secondary institutions.
